Supreme Court new judgments: where they appear and how we index them
New Supreme Court judgments are published on the Court's own site at supremecourt.gov.pk under 'Judgments', typically uploaded as PDF scans of the signed judgment shortly after pronouncement. Daily cause lists on the same site tell you what was heard and when an order is likely to follow.
What a week of new judgments looks like
A typical week adds a handful of reported judgments plus many short orders. The reported PDFs are what matter for citation — but a newly uploaded judgment has no reporter citation yet. It acquires one months later when PLD, SCMR or the court's own reporter publishes it. Until then the working citation is the case number ('Civil Appeal No. 123 of 2026').
How SanadAI ingests them
Our pipeline pulls judgment PDFs from court sources, parses text with PyMuPDF, runs OCR (vision models) on scanned pages, splits the text into numbered paragraphs, embeds each paragraph for semantic search, and records source metadata. A judgment only becomes citable in SanadAI once a human verification pass marks it verified — unverified rows are never served as authorities. That gate is what keeps the 'citations you can trust' promise.
When the reporter citation is published, it is attached to the record (with its parts — year, reporter, page) alongside the original case-number metadata, so searches by either form resolve to the same judgment.
